An aerial view of a land mass and a cargo ship unloading cargo at a port
Unlike storms and accidents, terrorism involves an adversary with deliberate intent to destroy. Unfortunately, the probabilities and consequences of a terrorist act are poorly understood and difficult to predict. The size and complexity of the international supply chain and the number of organizations involved — both public and private — add another degree of difficulty to the task. The task of managing this complexity centers on the World Customs Organization (WCO). The WCO has developed a set of standards for an automated risk management system that can identify high risk containers and communicate that information in real-time.

Because it can continuously analyze information contained in hundreds of computer databases in different locations and varied formats in real-time — without uploading that data — InferAgent can provide customs and security officials with precise information at every step of the supply chain, enabling them to more accurately identify and respond to risks while protecting shippers' privacy and preserving the free flow of international trade.

"Supply chain security covers the entire supply chain, from producer to distributor..." — Karel De Gucht, Belgian Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, World Customs Organization Conference, June 30, 2006
